Ever said that to someone who was backing up on you? (Everybody I’m sure is raising their hand right now, or at least nodding yes). Somebody backed out of a deal. Slinked back out of a sale. Or said they were going, and then at the last minute….nope.
I was preaching on stage when the biggest surprise crawdaddy move of all time jumped out at me. Nad what’s worse, I think we have ALL done it.
Joshua and Caleb and ten other spies were scouting out the promised land. They knew it was good. They had seen it was FAT, with a PH. (phat). Land flowing with milk and honey. Grapes the size of a man’s head. Easy harvest. Those are terms most of us non-farmers don’t get. But let me appeal to your retail side.
Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue are going to build new stores. Every single thing in these new stores is FREE. Designer shoes, expensive handbags, fine apparel. All you have to do is go the 11-day walk and receive! Can you imagine the madness? But WORTH IT!!!! #ModernDayPromisedLand
You get what I’m saying, the new place was beyond their dreams. Especially after 40 years of a manna-only diet with an occasional quail.
These twelve guys were there for forty days. And then they left the promised land. For FORTY years! Are you KIDDING ME?????
I would have come up with some kind of plan like, “Hey, me and Caleb are staying here to….hold down the fort. You guys go get everybody else and bring them on over!”
They were walking in the promise, the blessing, the dream – for 40 days. And walked right out. The promise didn’t leave the people. The people left the promise. (BOOM, drop the mic and walk away.)
God NEVER takes the promise from us. But how many times have we either not entered the promise at all, delayed going into the promise, or *gasp* been in the promise (the blessing) and then walked right out?????
You don’t have to say “I did it!” out loud. I’m not necessarily expecting a lot of comments and admissions of “It’s s me, I did it!”, but if you’re brave enough to admit it – we will ALL see that we have ALL done it.
God does not change His mind. God does not take the promise away. But we do walk out of His blessing flow. Walk away from the promise. Get intimidated by the promise and don’t go in.
So here is my encouragement to you today. NO. MORE. CRAWDADDY. (Sorry Cajun friends).
Let’s make a deal with each other.
When we get to the promised land…we are gonna stay there. No matter who doesn’t like it! And we aren’t gonna sit on the edge of our promised blessing anymore scared to enter. We are ‘well able to overcome’ the obstacles between us and the blessing because God is with us and He will never leave nor forsake. We are going to live in the promises that Jesus died to give us! Deal???
Deal!!!
