We don’t bother God when we ask Him about the small stuff. He loves it. It means we are thinking about Him and want Him in our life. And, it trains us to go to Him with any question.

That way when the tough situations come, we don’t put off, forget about, or delay in getting God involved.

I can’t imagine what it must be like sitting in heaven watching us stumble around and worry knowing “I can FIX this! PLEASE just ask Me!”

As a parent I can relate to wanting to help. The difference between us as human parents, and God is that we might just go ahead and buttinsky our way right in. While God, as a gentlemen and according to His gift of free will, law and promise waits until we turn to Him and ask in faith.

We get busy ‘leaning to our understanding’. Trying to figure it out ourselves. Running every scenario in our head. Raveling, unraveling, imaginary arguments in cars with invisible people, calculating, wishing, and then…finally…sometimes….praying.

He doesn’t want that for us. He wants us to invite Him into to the situation by asking Him about it right away. Another way of saying that is ‘acknowledging Him in ALL our ways.” The BIG ones. And the small ones. If we do it with ALL the small ones, when things get confusing and don’t seem to make sense, we will automatically go to Him (acknowledge Him) automatically.

You’re not alone. Just ask Him anything you would ask any other person. And now He is invited in.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct[a] your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

I laid awake in the middle of the night. Talking to God about what felt like dumb stuff to be talking to HIM about. Wondering if I’m just saying them to myself, they were so basic. I am quick and comfortable to call out to Him with big things. But do want Him involved in every little detail.
Thanks for good words about how the little basic things matter to Him.
