Batting slump, dating slump, performance at work slump. Stuff we don’t like to talk about, but the stuff that keeps us up at night and needing more coffee in the morning.

We’ve all had them.

And it seems like when it rains, it pours. Once we see something go bad, our imagination takes over and we suddenly see ourselves losing out, ending up alone, failing.

WHY DO WE DO THAT????????????

When we get in a spiritual or emotional slump – when we FOCUS on the problem, someone we don’t like, the circumstance – we are pointing our focus, our force of faith, in the wrong direction.

And here’s the thing about faith, it works no matter which way you point it.

That’s why they tell race car drivers to NEVER look at the wall. Where your focus goes, the man follows.

Focus on the PROBLEM and run right into the wall of problems. Instead, is we focus on the PROMISES, we run right into the wall of promise.

Many of our problems aren’t the byproduct of our circumstances, but of our PERSPECTIVE on our circumstances. Where our focus lies. What we are looking at.

Don’t let what’s wrong with you keep you from worshiping what’s right with God.

Reframing perspective is about shifting focus. We stop focusing on what’s wrong with our circumstances. And we start focusing on what’s right with God. Focus is force.

Instead of looking at the circumstances – look at God.

If we focus the mountain and forget that God is our safety, our redemption, our source and savior in all circumstances, we become increasingly fearful and like a race car driver, we head for the wall.

Fear and faith are the same thing, but opposite. Like north and south. The same line, but headed opposite directions. We can’t be in faith and fear at the same time. We are headed for something, be headed for the promise!

I can’t wait to share more on my next blog on HOW to head toward the promise when the problem keeps coming into our focus!!!!

Nicole, this is so true aslump stuck, rut, tangles. I’ve been focusing on the negative frustrating things in my life. My job is stressful and demanding. My marriages is in a rough place. I’ve focused so much on the not so good parts, keeping my heart and mind focused on that. I need to focus on God. My life messes are not a surprise to Him. He can help give perspective and clarity.
