Want to live long, strong and cancer and disease-free? Well, SURE!!!!!
Do we eat all the right things to make that happen? Heck no.
Now what?

The past couple blogs have been about building an easy routine to fit nutrition-packed green smoothies easily into your everyday life. How to make veggie and fruit daily ready-to-serve frozen packs were in the first blog.

The second talked about superfood powder and seed packs that we pre-make. These first two blogs take about 2 hours and you can make enough to last a couple of months.

This last step you do everyday.

Dump frozen greens and fruit pack into blender.
Dump powder pack into blender.
Then add liquids so the blender can do the job.

We could add just water – but why when we can get so much more out of it!!!

WHAT WE POUR IN
Our portions are for about FIVE people. And we don’t measure ANYTHING. So relax and have fun.

Coconut water

Electrolytes baby! We use roughly one cup.

Kefir

A liquid yogurt that is full of probiotics. Good for digestion and your immune system!
We use a healthy splash – maybe a ½ cup.

Aloe Vera Juice

It is said to help with heartburn, digestion and inflammation along with detoxifying the body!
We use maybe a ½ cup.

Almond milk

Protein, lactose-free, low-cal and it’s a little creamy. I’ve also read great things about the enzymes in almonds and how it helps fight cancer.
We use about 1 cup.

Cod Liver Oil

My friend, Dr. Ted Broer from www.healthmasters.com (where we buy our vitamins), says if he was stranded on a desert island and could only take one thing – COD LIVER OIL would be it.
Buy the good stuff, it’s more expensive, but you use less. And with cod liver oil, trust me less is more – lol! Really though, you don’t even taste it in the smoothie and the health benefits are phenomenal!
We use ¼ teaspoon per person if it’s the good stuff.

Organic Lemon Juice

Acid going in, alkaline behind. It’s an acid that makes the body alkaline. According to what I have read, cancer can’t grow in alkaline environments. We drink lemon in our water too.
We use just a splash.

Organic Plain Low-fat Greek Yogurt

We like our smoothies like our coffee – with a little cream. Great protein and it seems like it makes the smoothie ‘stick to my ribs’ a little more.
We use about 1 cup for 5 people.

Organic Cranberry Juice

Just a splash for urinary tract health. (stuff that isn’t fun to talk about and even less fun to struggle with) Or we add frozen cranberries to our fruit and veggie bag.

Organic Carrot Juice

Carrots just don’t seem to blend the same in the smoothie, so no-sugar carrot juice.
We use just a splash.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

(with the mother)
After reading claims about apple cider vinegar that talk about everything from blood sugar stabilization to making the body more alkaline, we add it for sure. You can’t taste it, and we NEVER liked drinking in it water. Don’t over do it ☺
We add about a teaspoon per person or you get a pickle juice taste – gag!

Monavie

I know this is a multi-level marketing product, but we can tell a difference between when we use it and when we don’t. We get the ‘active’ brand that has glucosamine for joint health. I buy it off of ebay so that I don’t hurt anybody’s feelings about buying it from one person and not another. It’s the ‘mom’ fairness part of me! It also makes the smoothie a little brown/purple instead of so bright green! (that helps some of us).
We add about a shot glass per person.

Filtered water

Then we fill the rest with filtered water. Not using tap water is a whole other subject that we’re passionate about. Especially after seeing what ends up in our water distiller filters! The big five gallon jugs in the harder plastic are the next best thing for now. But you can also buy counter-top distillers if you live in an apartment!

Then blend away and enjoy!

WHAT’S UP DOC…
Wait a minute, I’m not one. That’s right. I’m not a doctor. So be sure to check in with yours if you have potential medication clashes or conditions that don’t agree with any of the ingredients listed in our recipe. If you do, just factor them out!

After drinking green smoothies for a week or two, you find yourself CRAVING them. And CRAVING vegetables! It sounds impossible but it’s true.

OH, ONE MORE WEIRD THING…
When I am of of green smoothies for a week or so (because of travel or something), when I start using them, I break out for a couple days! WHAT???? I think it is all the goodness in my body pushing all the bad junk out. So don’t worry, after the first couple of days, I have the CLEAREST skin in my life!!!! #GreenSmoothieBenefits

Happy Green Smoothie Drinking!

Yes. There is a difference in filtered and purified. One is filtered, & the other is steamed and boiled. Google is the best at explaining it. 🙂

We had started drinking green smoothies recently to keep us in good health. There is a lot to learn about making the smoothies and loving them. There was a lot of hit and miss experiences. This information has shown me how much our smoothies are missing in nutrition. My 12 year loves the smoothies she ask for them after school as a snack. I also make frozen ice snacks with the smoothies for her. I have also started freezing the smoothies in bottles to take on the run. Thanks so much for all the great information. To good health!!
