Why Can’t I Afford to Take a Minute???

Growing things need A LOT of attention.

Babies and toddlers require mountains of attention, while teens can stay home alone and make their own breakfast.

This is something to keep in mind with where you are in life.

If you are starting a new business, blog, job, marriage, relationship, corporate position – IT IS GOING TO BE LIKE HAVING A BABY! It is going to make you feel like you have no time in the beginning, but as it matures it would and should begin to be less demanding.

My advice today, from my own playbook of ‘Ooops, things to never do again’, DON’T HAVE TWINS IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO!

I have started more than one new thing at a time and the lack of sleep kicked me in the tail.

What about you?

Have you started something new and found it to be time consuming?

How did you get through that time?

Do you find that starting more than one new thing in life at a time takes more out of you than you realized?

YES! Great timing on this post!

I’m working on a certification in group fitness instruction, started my food/fitness blog (click my name if you’re interested) as a hopeful backbone, and oh yeah, I’m a full-time stay at home mom to a 21-month-old! Life is GREAT, God’s blessings are abundant, but it feels like my time is extra limited now, because there’s always another chunk of time that I could be doing this or that. To get through it, I pray, and I remind myself that things won’t always be this crazy. I just try to remember to be ever-grateful.

It seems everyday tasks get added and some removed but the “To Do List” often remains untouched and often grows sometimes by the hour or the minute. So, in an effort to help I have tried to decrease the number on my to do list by staying on top of it and not allowing it to grow out of control. When the “To Do List” looks unmanageable then I know I become overwhelmed, stressed and less productive. So, keeping my head in the game, not procrastinating and remembering that God is not going to give me more than I can handle and I can do all things through Christ help me to stand when I want to fall! Great blog and reminder!

Unless of corse your twins are as cool as Mal and I – then have them. Lol.

One thing I benefit from is guided imagery time. It’s like taking a mini vaca in the middle of the day. I know it sounds like to much work , to settle down and stop the whirring mind. But in my type A mind, I need to stop for 15 minutes or so to get rebooted. I find I’m far more organized and focused with the rest of the day.
One thing I love to see Nicole do, is to do an biblical affirmation DVD for women. She has a tender, and gracious way of seeing Jesus’s love, I can’t always see. Just imagine a soft voice telling you how much God loves you, and how special you are, based on the Word.
I’ve looked for a Christian version of affirmations but there were little to be found. I know being a pastor is so demanding, and a project like this requires time. However, I know a lot of people struggle with understanding God’s love in a “not so nice” world, and benefit greatly.
Just a thought….one more thing to add to your busy schedule. Thank you for this wonderful forum, you’ve taken the time to create. It means a lot to me!

      Monabird,

Hey have you checked out our iDeclare CDs yet? They sound a lot similar to what you’re talking about here. And I like your description of guided imagery. We like to call it, “sharpening you axe.” Sometimes, you just need to steal away a minute or so to refocus. Then once you come back, you’re better than ever!
