royal wedding

Prince William and Kate

The royal wedding commanded a lot of attention this past week.

It seems as if the entire world was mesmerized by the union of Prince William and Kate.

The dress, the ceremony, who got invited…

Every detail was discussed by the media and ogled over by all of America. Even Twitter erupted in comments about this special event.

There was one particular detail that caught my attention… The fact that Kate was “a commoner.”

Not Royal by Blood

This was the first time that a marriage had occurred between a future king and a commoner in over 350 years. It caught my attention because I thought, “Hey, Kate is like me. Common. Normal. Not royal. There is hope for people like me!”

I was so excited that one of us had broken through. But then I realized that I couldn’t be more wrong.

Not wrong about the fact that there is hope for the common person. Not wrong about the part that Kate was a commoner and had just married a prince. That part I got right.

I was wrong about the fact that I (or you for that matter) is common in the first place. And I’m not talking about how we are not normal (ummmm, I kinda knew that about me anyway – but that is another kind of not normal, LOL). I am talking about the FACT that we are royalty.

Seriously, you don’t even have to do one of those tedious family tree projects. I can prove your heritage.

Let me ask you this, have you asked God to be Lord and Father of your life? I assume you have. If you haven’t, pray and ask Him to be right now. You won’t be sorry.

Do you believe the Bible when it says that God is the “King of kings and Lord of lords” in 1 Timothy and Revelation? I just believe everything I read in the Bible.

Well, if you answered yes to the last two questions, let me shed light on the fact that Kate Middleton has nothing on you.

You Are Royalty

If God is your Lord and Father AND He is a King, and YOU are his child, what is the child of a king known as? A prince or a princess.

It can’t be that simple!!!!! Can it? Oh, yes it certainly can!

The enemy spends most of his time lying to us about who we are. Because when we know who we are, we become aware of the inherent rights and privileges that we are entitled to.

Like a carriage ride after the royal wedding, there are certain things a prince or princess knows is supposed to happen for them. And if it doesn’t, they are found asking someone, “Excuse me, where is my carriage? Can you summon it quickly please?!?”

You are royal. You are entitled. You are the child of a King. You have rights and privileges. You are NOT common. YOU, my friend, have every right to hold your head up high and know that who ever messes with you is messing with the King’s kid.

The Glass Slipper 2011

These are the kinds of things that we are talking about at the Glass Slipper, our St. Louis women’s conference, to be held on June 10-11, 2011. If you know of someone who needs a reminder of who they are in Christ, or someone who needs to meet Christ so they can find out who they are – sign them up for the Glass Slipper women’s conference today at www.TheGlassSlipper2011.com.

Then proudly don your tiara (or guys grab a sword or something princely) and walk through the rest of today with your best royal posture. Because that is what you are….royalty!

  1. Patti says:

I loved that the sermon given during the ceremony touched on this very subject. The priest noted that:

“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” So said St Catherine of Siena whose festival day it is today. Marriage is intended to be a way in which man and woman help each other to become what God meant each one to be, their deepest and truest selves.

Many are full of fear for the future of the prospects of our world but the message of the celebrations in this country and far beyond its shores is the right one – this is a joyful day! It is good that people in every continent are able to share in these celebrations because this is, as every wedding day should be, a day of hope.

In a sense every wedding is a royal wedding with the bride and the groom as king and queen of creation, making a new life together so that life can flow through them into the future.

William and Catherine, you have chosen to be married in the sight of a generous God who so loved the world that he gave himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ.

And in the Spirit of this generous God, husband and wife are to give themselves to each another.”

It was a beautiful sermon that was short, but very sweet!!

  2. Randy says:

I got a good look at her and there was nothing common about her! She was gorgeous and I’ll bet she has some royal blood in her somewhere along the line. Don’t we all? Aren’t we all grafted in? What a beautiful couple and why the big rush all of a sudden? Is the queen sick? Are they trying to protect the aristocracy? Oh crud, have to go back to work….. ty

Makes alot of sense, sometimes we know ‘stuff’ like this…but it’s good to hear (or read) it and really get a revelation. Thanks Pastor Nicole.

  4. Great post! I talked about this last Sunday.

God is LOYAL to those who are ROYAL!

  5. Cherise says:

    Pastor Nicole,

This is beautifully written. Thank you for spreading the message to women and men everywhere of our royal heritage in Jesus Christ. God bless everything that your hands touch and every word that you speak. Looking forward to reading more!!

  6. jason says:

    Love your comments Nicole,

If you ever get a chance to read the Book of Mormon, it talks clearly of the same concept that you talk about.
