Temptation is part of being human, but giving into it is like giving up.

You can’t avoid it, even Jesus couldn’t avoid it! Temptation is one of the realities of the Christian life…of life PERIOD!

We HAVE to face this potential stumbling block to our future success. We can and WILL OVERCOME! Tempting believers is part of the enemy’s job. As long as we live, will be tempted.

The Bible tells us in Luke 22:40, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” In 1 Corinthians 10:13, it says that God will not allow temptation to be more than you can handle and he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

You may overcome temptation in one area, but the enemy will attack in another. Never consider a temptation insignificant.

– You didn’t eat that Krispy Kreme but… you were “too tired” to go to the gym today
– You and your spouse fought today and you bit your tongue…yet you snapped at someone at work
– You got up early, spent time with God…then you went to work, got caught up in things and gossiped with a coworker

We can and WILL overcome as long as we follow Jesus, we WILL resist temptation WITH THE HELP OF the Holy Spirit.

I want to encourage you today to begin recognizing that temptation is a work of the enemy to hold you back from your assigned destination. Stumbling blocks are his specialty.

Start resisting each temptation by filling yourself with good (God) things. Listen to worship music, talk to yourself with a positive dialogue and agree with God!
