Here’s the deal. Sometimes I’m cool when things don’t go my way. Other times…

Don’t look at me in that judgmental tone of look! (lol) We all do it! How do you react when you don’t get your way?

When I was in Guatemala, I preached at a church that had 11,000 seats. With that many souls at stake – I wanted to get it RIGHT!

I had two messages. The first one went really well. But, when I was getting ready to preach the second one, I realized a certain pastor was there. (An influential person.)

Oh NO!!! I just preached this SAME message at their church a month ago! They are gonna think it’s the only message I know!!!!

“God, can I PLEASE preach something else?”

(Silence.)

Digging through files to find something else that catches my eye.

(Nothing.)

“Goooooooooodddddd!” (in my whiny voice).

(My silence.)

Trying to get my own way by picking something else.

(No peace.)

Sooooo, I went to the pastor of the church and asked how he wanted me to flow.  When God doesn’t give us the answer we want… we just go to a friend for a second opinion.

(Don’t you just love it when we try to get our way, in the name of submission? It’s just me, right?)

I still didn’t get the answer I wanted, so I asked another friend. They told me, “You do what God is telling you to do.”

Well, that’s just GREAT!!!

Now, I’m fresh out of friends to ask. I guess, I’ll have to actually do what God’s telling me to do!

My pride did not want me to preach that same sermon. But, God already had people lined up to be in those seats that He wanted to hear that Word.

God’s way is ALWAYS going to be better than our way. If we’ll just stop wrestling with Him for a minute… perhaps He’ll show us why.
