Did you know that each one of us has an outer life and an inner life?
Our OUTER life is that public life that the people around us see. Our MASK usually tries to cover this life so that others don’t see our pain or how we truly feel about ourselves.
Then there’s our INNER life, made up of our secret thoughts, attitudes and motives. Only God really knows what’s on the inside.
“…The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
When The Lord looks at OUR heart, what does He see?
So many of us are going around today pretending—acting one way, yet on the inside, thinking something TOTALLY different. Our hearts and our actions just don’t line up.
That ‘tough chick’ is actually someone that has been SO hurt that she doesn’t dare let others get too close.
The ‘life-of-the-party-girl’ is trying to make everyone ELSE laugh just to keep herself from crying.
Are we wearing a MASK that God didn’t create for us to wear? What is that mask keeping us from?
It’s time that we take inventory of what’s going on inside of us today.
• Are we at peace?
• Are we overlooking offenses?
• Do we believe the best in people?
• Do our hearts and actions line up?
Going through life pretending is NO WAY to live. Let’s resolve to be more open and honest. God is looking on the inside and He loves us for who we TRULY are!
In the end, we may be able to fool a lot of people…but we can’t fool GOD!
