A while back, my friend brought me along to her Pilates class. I confidently scanned the room and made my assessment.
The average age in the class was about sixty-years-old.
I thought, “NO sweat…I’ve got this!”
Don’t judge a book by its cover!
The instructor (old enough to be my mother) looked me up and down. I guess she was making HER assessment.
“Okay ladies,” she announced, “we have a NEWBIE! So I’m gonna take it EASY on you today.”
What? Take it easy? Are you KIDDING me? I’ve never taken a Pilates class, but I DO work out! No, really…I’ve GOT this!!!
Boy, was I was WRONG!
Sometimes, we look at other folks and SIZE THEM UP.
- Just look what they’re WEARING!
- They can’t AFFORD to drive that!
- Can you believe all those TATTOOS?
- Wow, she really looks OLD!
- They probably never even finished SCHOOL!
Hypocrite!
Every day, we tend to judge other people. But God warns us NOT to, unless WE enjoy being judged, ourselves.
Matthew 7:1 is very clear. “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.” (NLT)
It only took me five minutes to realize that I didn’t have ANYTHING! These sixty-year-old women were KICKING my butt!!!
As I was leaving the classroom, the instructor SMILED and said to me, “If you’ll come back, we can get that booty lifted back up to where it SUPPOSED to be.”
OUCH!!!
Luckily, nothing in my body was really hurt…except my PRIDE!

Have you ever been totally surprised by someone who you previously judged?Yeah…me too! Hit me with an EMOJI so I know I’m not alone!!!
Feel like sharing the story, too? I wanna hear it!
That’s so true!! We are all different. Different problems, concerns, fears, and goals. We have no idea where people are at in their life.
That’s why it’s important to be nice and not judge people,
But we all need to be reminded, thanks that was a funny story, ????????????????????????
Wow! Something we all need to be reminded of. It’s so easy to judge others and a lot of times i think it’s because some folks feel bad about themselves and judging others makes them feel somewhat better. I guess it could be a form of Low self esteem in some cases. Thank you for sharing this. I will definitely pass it along .
This was a good read and gave me a good laugh. Thank you.
Yes we live in a city very close anyway we got slapped around by pre-judging a homeless person that was digging in our garbage can and he was leaving different things on every corner of our neighborhood… Things that he had picked up from various homes. Actually some of the things looked very usable well anyway come to find out he was homeless but actually working for the mission and was finding things that could be used for the mission it self… come to find out he also was a Christian man… Talked about the Lord and everything ???? Boy we judged him totally wrong and thought he was just being messy… We needed that slap!!
I was 25 years old with a first kid.
I went shopping with my sister that is 2 years older then me. We sat down to feed my daughter and my sister wanted to feed her I said ok. About 10 minutes later a person came over and said that nice to have your mom with you. They thought I was the kid grandma.
????
????????????❤
Been there!
I made a match account about 5 years ago, I got a message from this guy, my first instinct was look at his pictures before reading what he wrote. Boy, he had gauged ears, covered in tattoos and I thought really he looks like trouble, does he really think he stands a chance. Well, long story short that man is now my husband, best friend and walks strong with God.
